16 University of Oklahoma Sooners (5-4, 3-4 Big 12) v. Texas Tech Red Raiders(7-2, 3-2 Big 12), 2:30p.m. CT, ABC
After OU's drumming at the hands of Texas A&M last weekend, the Sooners are coming back home with their sights set on victory. Texas Tech is entering Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium with a big upset over the then #12 ranked Mizzou Tigers. However, to boil down the University of Oklahoma football program to one overarching generalization, there is one thing they are good, outstanding at winning on Owen Field. The Sooners have won all of their home games this season by an average of 25 points. Senior RB Demarco Murray is only 139 yards short of his second 1,000 yard season in as many years. Tied for third in the Big XII the Sooners need a win here to keep their Big XII south hopes alive, especially with road tests againt Baylor and the #10 Oklahoma State Cowboys to close out their season.
10 Oklahoma State University Cowboys (8-1, 4-1 Big 12) at University of Texas Longhorns (4-5, 2-4 Big 12), 6p.m. CT ABC
It is not a good year to be a Longhorn. Suffering through what could be their first losing season in the Mack Brown era, the Longhorns face one of the most productive offenses in the FBS. The Cowboys need this win to stay atop the Big XII south and to keep their BCS bowl hopes alive. But there are two numbers the Longhorns and the Cowboys are very cognizant of: 1944 and 2. The Cowboys haven't won in Austin since 1944 and they have only beaten the Longhorns twice. Ever. It's apparent that the Longhorns can keep up with talented teams after their victory over the Big XII North leading Nebraska Cornhuskers, but they seem to crumble when it comes to getting home wins (see: UCLA, Iowa State, Baylor). Hunter, Weeden, Blackmon and Co. ran roughshod over a talented Baylor team last Saturday, but they are facing a Longhorns team longing for an upset who has tradition on their side. But, will tradition even matter?
Tulsa Golden Hurricane (6-3, 3-2 C-USA) at University of Houston Cougars (5-4, 4-2 C-USA) 7 p.m. CT
This game has been circled on the Hurricane's calendar since the start of Summer practice. Yes, away games at OSU and Notre Dame were important(the Notre Dame game bringing a historic victory to Tulsa), but in the last few years no team has been as big of thorn in Tulsa's side like the Houston Cougars. The Cougars have won four of five against the Hurricane, including last years victory at Tulsa where the Cougars scored 9 points in the last 21 seconds of the fourth quarter. Luckily for the Hurricane they have played well on the road this year. Their road loss at the hands of ECU came on a Hail Mary pass in the final seconds of play and their loss at SMU came at the hands of two blocked field goals. Coaches know this Houston game will be one of the toughest of the year. TU needs another in W column if they hope to play in the C-USA Championship game as well.
15 University of Arkansas Razorbacks (7-2, 4-2 SEC) vs. University of Texas-El Paso Miners (6-4, 3-4 C-USA) 6p.m. CT, ESPNU
The Razorbacks, led by QB Ryan Mallett and RB Knile Davis are on track to give UTEP their 25th consecutive road loss to a ranked opponent. Mallett and Davis lead a balanced offense with Davis having scored 9 TD's and Mallett having thrown for 19 TD's. UTEP is bowl eligible for the first time five years. The Hogs are facing two tough tests after this UTEP game, at Mississippi State and home against LSU. Hopefully, for the Hogs' sake they will be focusing on the task at hand and not give UTEP their first win against an SEC opponent on the road in 6 matchups.

The Rundown: Week 8
So the BCS poll has come out. OU sits atop of the polls at #1, Oklahoma State sits at #14 and Arkansas sits at #23. Each team is needing a win this week to shore up their spot in the polls or surge ahead. Let's see what everyone will be facing on Saturday.
1 Oklahoma Sooners (6-0, 2-0 Big 12) at 11 Missouri Tigers(6-0, 2-0 Big 12) 7 p.m. on ABC
Two respected Big 12 programs, each with identical records, Oklahoma needs a win to help justify it's position at #1 in the BCS, Missouri needs a win to keep its march up the polls alive. Mizzou is going to be facing some challenges in the form of WR Ryan Broyles and running back extraordinaire DeMarco Murray. The Tiger's defense has had an outstanding year so far but this will be their toughest date. If history has shown us anything it is that the Tigers have struggled, immensely, against the Sooners. The Tigers have only won 1 out of their last 20 meetings with the Sooners. Mizzou coach Gary Pinkel is 0-6 when facing the Sooners. Will it be business as usual with another OU win, or will Mizzou avenge it's 2007 Big 12 Championship loss that cost them a shot at the National Championship? Did we mention ESPN's College Gameday will be setting up shop in Columbia, MO and it's Mizzou's homecoming as well?

The Huskers travel to Stillwater coming off an embarrassing home loss to unranked Texas. Oklahoma State needs a win in this game to keep their win streak running while the Huskers are out to climb back up the polls. Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez is scheduled to start after he was pulled last week after a poor performance. The Cowboys have won six straight games at home, however they have lost 20 of 25 games against top 25 opponents. If OSU's BrandonWeeden, Kendall Hunter and Justin Blackmon can outfox the blackshirts defense, OSU should be smooth sailing.
23 Arkansas Razorbacks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) vs. Ole Miss Rebels (3-3, 1-2 SEC) 11:30 a.m. CT on espn3.com
The Ole' MissAdmiral Ackbars Rebels travel to Fayetteville this Saturday. Arkansas is coming back off of 65-43 loss at Auburn last week, where QB and Heisman hopeful Ryan Mallett left the game with a concussion. Mississippi has gotten off to a slow start, losing to then 8 ranked Alabama last Saturday. With Mallett's return, the Rebel defense will have its hands full.
The TU Golden Hurricanes are off this week.

The Rundown: Week 7
On the eve of this season's first BCS polls, this is a big weekend for college football. OU is hoping to stay in the hunt for a possible crack at the National Title or a Fiesta Bowl berth while Arkansas is hoping for an upset against #7 Auburn. OSU is hoping to keep its chase for the Big 12 south title alive while the Gold Hurricane is hoping improve its C-USA record to 2-2.
Saturday October 16
Iowa State Cyclones (3-3, 1-1 Big 12) at 6 Oklahoma Sooners (5-0, 1-0 Big 12)
Under Bob Stoops, the Sooners are 11-0 in their games following the Red River Rivalry. The Sooners are 14-3 coming off of a bye week. They have also won 11 straight games against the Cyclones. All of these stats spell what many think will be cakewalk for the Sooners in Norman on Saturday. And many people might be right, unlike injury plagued 2009 season, this year's Sooner team has managed to stay relatively injury free. However with Iowa State's Quarterback Austen Arnaud being the schools second leading passer of all time, don't rule out all possibilities. However, having just given up 68 points after a crushing home loss at home, it is hard to see how the Cyclones will be able to put a stop to OU's Big 12 South title run, in Norman.
20 OSU Cowboys (5-0, 1-0 Big 12) at Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-2, 1-2 Big 12)
OSU is hoping to end a nine-game losing streak in Lubbock that began all the way back in 1944. With three starting receivers out for the game on Saturday, OSU QB Brandon Weeden is going to have his hands full. However, he is going up against one of the most porous defenses in the Big 12. In their last 3 games, the Red Raiders have given up 114 points and given up an average of 422.7 yards of total offense. In the Raider's shootout against Baylor in the Cotton Bowl last week, they gave up over 600 yards in their 45-38 victory. A victory in Lubbock could give the Cowboys some momentum as they gear up to face 7 Nebraska in Stillwater next Saturday.
Tulane Green Wave (2-3, 0-1 C-USA) at Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-3, 1-2 C-USA)
Tulsa has the ninth-highest ranked offense in the nation. Their new co-offensive coordinator Chad Morris has been key in developing a fast, no huddle offense and Tulsa's young talent have been making an impact. Freshman Marco Nelson has already had three interceptions on the season. With a Green Wave team that has struggled with the Hurricane since 2005, Tulsa is needing a W to stay afloat in C-USA. Did I mention this is Tulsa's homecoming game?

With three of the previous four meetings going to Arkansas, Auburn is needing to keep their streak alive to stay competitive for the SEC west title. While dealing a decisive loss to Auburn will keep Arkansas' SEC hopes alive and hopefully give a boon to Razorback QB Ryan Mallett's Heisman alive.

The Rundown: Week 6
Another installment of the Rundown, where we at Bedlam Sports talk a little about what the Sooners, Cowboys, Golden Hurricane and Razorbacks will be facing over the weekend.
Friday, October 8
22 Oklahoma State Cowboys(4-0, 1-0 Big 12) at Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (2-2, 2-1 Sun Belt) 8 p.m. central on ESPN2
The Cowboys are making the drive down to Louisiana this Friday for their first road game. Coming off of a several impressive (TU, Washington State) wins and two wins by only three points (Texas A&M and Troy). After recently joining the 40-win club, OSU coach Mike Gundy hopes to raise that number higher against what many are calling an inferior team in an inferior conference. As David Ubben from ESPN said, "The Sun Belt (Conference) has some good teams. The Ragin' Cajuns aren't one of them." As a team that lost 55-7 to Georgia several weeks ago Louisiana Lafayette might not be able to stop the likes of Brandon Weeden and Kendall Hunter. But this being college football, and a road game, you never know just what can happen.

After Tulsa's 48-7 trouncing of Memphis last week, the Hurricane hope to inch closer to that C-USA title by dealing SMU their conference loss. Both teams are coming off wins to conference opponents and could each use one in the W column to stay competitive for the chance to appear in the Liberty Bowl on New Years Eve.

The Razorbacks hope to come back from an incredibly close loss to #1 ranked Alabama from two weeks ago while the Aggies are hoping to even out their Big 12 record to 1-1 after a loss in the last seconds to the OSU Cowboys last Thursday. The Aggies and the Razorbacks are in the second year of a ten-year contract between to the two schools to play in Arlington, rekindling an old Southwestern Conference Rivalry. Arkansas' Ryan Mallett, ranked second in FBS in passing yards per contest is needing a big game to get back in the Heisman race while the Aggies' Jerrod Johnson is hoping to put the memories of his four interceptions thrown against Oklahoma State last week behind him.

The Rundown: Week 5
A short preview (or review) of your OU Sooners, OSU Cowboys, TU Golden Hurricane and Arkansas Razorback football weekend.
Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-0) v. Texas A&M Aggies (3-1) 38-35
It was a touchdown fest last night at T. Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, and all under the watchful eyes of ESPN cameras and thousands of Orange clad faithful. After going down by two touchdowns, the Cowboys were able to dig themselves out of a hole to go up 35-21 after a costly A&M fumble and a 63-yd. fumble return for a touchdown by OSU's James Thomas. In the fourth quarter the Aggies' Jerrod Johnson was able to orchestrate two breakneck drives to tie the game at 35-35 to send it into overtime. Johnson threw 4 interceptions in the game, his final in the last 16-seconds, setting up Dan Bailey's 40-yd. field goal to win the game for the Pokes 38-35.

OU and Texas will be squaring off for their 105th Red River Rivalry game this Saturday. OU is looking to come back after a close 16-13 loss last year that ended up claiming QB Sam Bradford for the duration of the season. Texas is hoping to come back from an embarrassing home loss to UCLA last Saturday, where the Longhorns fell 34-12 giving up 264 rushing yards. OU's Landry Jones and Texas' Garrett Gilbert are both starting their first Red River games (though Jones did play almost the entire game last year, he did not start). With OU having outstanding weapons in Junior WR Ryan Broyles and Senior RB DeMarco Murray, Texas can't afford to be lax in their secondary coverage or when battling in the trenches.

TU goes into this game in Memphis' Liberty Bowl after a blowout win against Central Arkansas last Saturday. TU coach Todd Graham hopes that this will be the first of two times that the Golden Hurricane will play in the Liberty Bowl, which is the bowl destination for the Conference-USA champion. TU is also out to bounce back against an embarassing loss to OSU two weeks ago in Stillwater.
Arkansas Razorbacks (15) have a bye this week. Next week they face Texas A&M in Fayetteville.
